Tamil Nadu men’s team wins opening match of National Basketball Tournament

The 71st National Senior Basketball Championship started yesterday at the Chennai Nehru Indoor Stadium. 16 teams in the men’s division and 15 teams in the women’s division are participating in the tournament which will be held till the 10th.
The Tamil Nadu men’s team, which is part of the ‘C’ division, met Delhi in the opening match. The Tamil Nadu team won the match 85-47. In the Tamil Nadu team Baladhaneshwar scored 15 points and Arvind 14 points.
In the women’s division, the Tamil Nadu team lost to defending champions Indian Railways 62-100 in their first league (‘A’ division).
