Tamil Nadu Public Works Minister Velu Alleges Harassment by Income Tax Officials During Raid

Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu – The recent income tax raid on the house and associated properties of Tamil Nadu Public Works Minister Velu from D.Malai, DMK has sparked controversy after the minister claimed that his staff and driver were harassed and threatened during the investigation.

In a statement made in Tiruvannamalai, Minister Velu stated, “Some people are spreading wrong information about income tax audit. My interview assistant, Subramanian, was kept in solitary confinement for five days, threatened to the point of tears, questioned and harassed by the Income Tax officials. They also threatened my driver.”

The Minister went on to clarify that he operates colleges using only his earned money and is not in charge of any trust. He also accused the BJP of using the income tax department to intimidate him and his party ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Minister Velu stated, “We are not afraid of all this. I have nothing to do with Casa Grand, Abba Sami. Is it fair if my acquaintances raid my house, confiscate money and link it to me? The Income Tax Department has not seized a single rupee from me, my sons or my wife.”

The raid, which reportedly lasted five days, resulted in the seizure of various important documents. However, Minister Velu’s claims of harassment and intimidation raise questions about the conduct of income tax officials during the investigation.

The allegations made by Minister Velu are sure to stir up further controversy and could lead to a protracted legal battle between the minister and the income tax department.
