It was recently announced by the cooperative department that gas cylinders will soon be available for sale in ration shops in Tamil Nadu. Following this Munna, a new type of cylinder named Chottu is going to be introduced today.
In the first phase, this sale is going to be started at the Kamadenu Dairy Store of Tiruvallikeni City Co-operative Society known as TUCS in Tiruvallikeni, Chennai. After that, it has been said that the plan to sell cylinders will be expanded to ration shops and supermarkets in important places across Tamil Nadu.
The main objective of this scheme is to sell cylinders in two and five kg weights. For the first time in Chennai, it is said that consumers will have to pay Rs 958 to get a two kg cooking gas cylinder and Rs 1515 to get a five kg gas cylinder. After that, if the gas cylinder runs out, customers can refill the cylinder by paying only the corresponding amount. In Chennai this month, two kg cooking gas is sold at Rs 250 and five kg at Rs 575.
