Tamil Nadu team accumulate more medals

Ahmedabad: The Tamil Nadu team is at the 4th position in the medal list of the National Games. 12 gold, 9 silver and 12 bronze total 33 medals. Services topped the list with 51 medals, including 23 gold.

8 Medals….

The 36th National Games are being held in 6 cities in Gujarat. At the end of the 3rd day, Tamil Nadu won 8 gold, 8 silver and 9 bronze medals, totaling 25 medals. Tamil Nadu got 8 more medals on day 4. This includes 4 gold medals.

New feat…

Gold in the women’s 4x400m relay. The team consisting of Divya, Vidya, Olympian Stephi and Subha Venkatesan completed the race distance in 3 minutes 35.32 seconds and secured the first position and set a new record. Earlier in 2015, the record was set by Kerala in 3 minutes 35.94 seconds. After 7 years Tamil Nadu players broke this record.

2nd Gold…

Gold was also won in the women’s weightlifting event. Arogya Alisha won gold in the 76 kg category. This is Tamil Nadu’s 2nd gold in weightlifting. In rollerskating, the women’s relay team consisting of Aarti Kasthuriraj, Karthika, Meenalohini and Gopika bagged the gold medal.

Bronze Medal…

The Tamil Nadu men’s team consisting of Anandakumar, Swiss, Selvakumar and Irfan bagged a silver medal in the same category. He got two medals in the swimming race. The Tamil Nadu team consisting of Pawangupta, Sathya Saikrishnan, Benedict Rohit and Aditya bagged a silver medal in the 4x10m freestyle and the Tamil Nadu women’s team consisting of Mananya, Advika, Pramita and Sakthi bagged a bronze medal in the 4x100m freestyle. In athletics, the men’s 4x400m relay team consisting of Satish Kumar, Mohankumar, Saran and Rajesh bagged a bronze medal.
