Chennai: In the national level, ‘Speed Skating Championship’, the Tamil Nadu team won the overall champion title and created a record.
The 23rd National Speed Skating Championship was held in Coimbatore by the Speed Skating Federation of India.
Players from states including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Puducherry, Maharashtra, Odisha, New Delhi, Assam and Gujarat participated.
More than 1,000 people from Tamil Nadu alone participated in the competition and showcased their talent. There were separate competitions for four, six, eight, 10, 12, 14, 16 and above 16 years.
Competitions like ‘Beginner, Squad, Professional in Line, Fancy in Line’ were conducted for each category.
At the end of all the matches, the Tamil Nadu team came first overall and clinched the title of champion.
The second position was shared by the states of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Odisha grabbed the third position. Speed Skating Federation President Krishna and Secretary Muruganandam felicitated the students and distributed prizes.
