Vanathi Srinivasan, BJP national women’s wing leader and southern assembly member, came to cast her vote at Kamaraj Matriculation School in Coimbatore’s Tatabad area. Elections for 21 corporations, 138 municipalities and 490 municipalities in Tamil Nadu are being held in a single phase today. About 2 crore 83 lakh people are expected to vote in this election. 30,735 polling booths have been set up and one lakh 60 thousand electronic voting machines have been set up. State Election Commissioner Palanikumar further said that 11 crore 89 lakh rupees worth of gift items, liquor and cash were seized in the unprecedented urban local body elections. He also explained that there is no place in the law for the use of NOTA in local elections.
