Police seized 15 kg of whale remains smuggled from Samraj Nagar-Kerala.

The police received a tip-off that 15 kg of whale remains, known as ‘amber grease’, was being smuggled from Kerala to Bengaluru through Kolekal in Samraj Nagar.

Subsequently, the police were conducting a vehicle search near the city’s hi-tech bus station.

Then they stopped the car with Kerala registration number that came that way and checked it.

In it, 15 kg of whale remains were found.

Subsequently, the smugglers, Samsuddin, 48, of Kozhikode, Kerala State, Triseema Varghese, 55, of Kottayam, Saji Subhash, 41, of Thrissur, and Virupak Shah, 62, of Dumagur were arrested.

All four were produced in court and sent to jail.

Whale tail is used extensively in the manufacture of perfumes.
