Kallakurichi: In Kallakurichi district, strict action is being taken against those involved in illegal activities like sale of counterfeit liquor, ganja and liquor bottles.

Kallakurichi district used to be the primary district in the production and sale of illicit liquor, ganja, gutka and other prohibited substances used by the government. Subsequently, SP Mohanraj, who took charge on Jan. 4, is showing seriousness in controlling this.

For this purpose, the police force of the District Prohibition and Narcotics Division, including a DSP and an Inspector, has been stepped up. Also, these works are going on actively in all the police stations in the district. As a result, drug prevention operations are being intensified in the respective regional stations.

Accordingly, 2000 liters of liquor was found in Aravakurichi on 5th January. Followed by 600 liters in Nayanarpalayam on 16th, 5,200 liters in Kurumbaluar on 28th, 4,800 liters on 29th, making a total of 12,600 liters.

2,700 lit. in Thumbaramptu on 4th, 1200 lit. on 5th, Kurumbaluar-1200 lit. on 6th, 1800 lit. on 11th and 2100 lit. on 25th. A total of 10,000 lit. The stains were destroyed. Also, on March 4, 1,000 liters were discovered and destroyed in Arboondi and 5,000 liters in Vellarikadu on March 4. A total of 28 thousand 600 liters of liquor has been destroyed in the entire district so far.

Similarly, 500 grams of ganja were found in Klakkat on January 5 and 200 grams of ganja in Paithanturai on February 7, totaling 1,200 kg of ganja.

69 lit., liquor, 1,032 bottles of liquor at Nayanarpalayam on Jan. 16, 8 kg of Gutka products at Ulundur Petti on 28th, 105 lit. liquor at Baithanthurai on Feb. 7, 55 lit. liquor at Seshasamutra on 11th, liquor, Feb. 20 60 lit. of liquor in Manmalai, 15 lit. in Karundalakurichi on 21st, coconuts, 1000 lit., liquor in Arambundi on 4th March, a total of 1,129 lit., liquor and more than thousand bottles of Gutka were found and destroyed.

Last Jan. A total of 28,600 lit., liquor pickles, 1,129 lit., counterfeit liquor, 15 lit., coconuts, 1.2 kg ganja, 8 kg gutka, more than 1,500 liquor bottles were found and destroyed from the first till the beginning of March.

Police have arrested only a few people involved in the crime. Most of the hoarders remain absconding.

Only by finding and punishing the absconding criminals will these crimes decrease.
