New Delhi: ‘Across the country, 9.30 lakh children have dropped out of primary school’, it was reported in the Lok Sabha yesterday.
To a question, Union Minister of State for Education Annapoorna Devi has given a written answer, saying: State and Union Territory governments are conducting surveys on dropouts. According to this, across the country, 9.30 lakh children have dropped out of school at the primary school level. This includes 5.03 lakh boys and 4.27 lakh girls.

Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of school dropouts, with 3.96 lakh people dropping out. After that, in Bihar, 1.34 lakh and in Gujarat, 1.06 lakh children have dropped out. Details of such children are being collected and efforts are being made to re-enroll them in schools. It says so.
