Tirupur: ‘The Tamil Nadu government should abandon the activities of appointing trustees and taking over the village temples’, said the temple development wing of the BJP.

There are thousands of temples in villages and residential areas all over Tamil Nadu, under the control of the respective local communities. For a long time these were managed by local temple committee administrators.

Tirupani, Kumbabhishekam, festivals are conducted with the participation of public and devotees.

The Tamil Nadu government is bringing in the ruling party and atheists in the name of trustees to take over these temples.

In this regard, BJP’s Temple Development Division District President Prem Kumar submitted a petition to Tirupur Collector Vineeth and Hindu Religious Charities Department Assistant Commissioner Selvaraj yesterday.

In Manu, ‘Village temples are managed by hereditary trustees. Do not take any action related to the temple without obtaining permission from the temple committee and village officials; Trustees should not be appointed’.
