Tamil News | Advisory Committee to provide quality food in ration

by time news

CHENNAI- Co-operatives department is going to set up a committee to look into the issue of selling quality grocery items uniformly in all ration shops.

Working under the Cooperative Sector, various Cooperative Societies and Cooperative Goods Roads run ration shops. Among them, grocery items, cooking oil, flour are sold under unregulated category. These are procured separately by the societies themselves.

It is said that the products are purchased from companies that give ‘commission’ to the higher officials of the office of the Registrar of Co-operative Societies. This has led to complaints that they are of poor quality and priced higher than the market.

Therefore, the authorities are putting pressure on the shop staff to buy the products that the people do not buy. They are requesting the government to find a solution to this problem.

The grocery items sold in Kerala state ration shops are of good quality and cheap. Similarly, in Tamil Nadu ration shops, it is planned to sell quality products that people want.

For this, what items can be sold; Where to buy and get the lowest price; The provision of discounts to customers is also being investigated.

For this, the Department of Cooperatives has decided to constitute a committee comprising additional registrars and take its suggestions and implement them.
