Sunambedu: At the bus stand in Sunambedu bazaar, there was a 70-year-old banyan tree.

The leaves of the banyan tree spread over the existing old bus shelter, causing the shelter to crumble.

Thus, it was decided to remove the old bus stop shelter and construct a new bus stop shelter.

As the people of the area objected to remove the entire banyan tree, a notification was issued by the panchayat that only the branches would be removed.

In this case, on the 21st, the foundation stone was laid for the construction of a new bus stand at an estimated cost of 8 lakh rupees.

That very night, without permission, the banyan tree was uprooted by the JCP machine.

The people of the area submitted a petition directly to the District Collector to take action to place the removed banyan tree in the same place.

In this case, the district collector ordered to keep the removed banyan tree in the same place after conducting an investigation.

Yesterday, Chittamur District Development Officer Gowri and horticulture department officials dug a trench with a JCP machine to plant the banyan tree at the same spot.

An official who was on duty was called by a political figure and told to stop work, suddenly stopped work and all the officers went back.

In this case, the people of the area have said that they are going to engage in various protests if the removed banyan tree is not replaced immediately.
