Coimbatore: In spite of the opposition of the sanitation workers, a ‘tender’ has been called for the private sector in the Coimbatore Corporation.

Cleaning workers who have been working on contract for more than 10 years in the Coimbatore Corporation are demanding permanent employment.

However, recently a decree (No: 152) was issued prohibiting the appointment of permanent cleaning staff. To this, the sanitation workers are protesting strongly.

In this context, the Administrative Commissioner of Municipalities, Ponnaiah, has given permission and ordered to allocate funds at the rate of Rs.170.65 crore per year for three years to give the garbage collection work throughout the corporation to the private sector. On 24th evening, the Corporation has invited to send tenders through e-tender system by 3:00 PM.

One Crore, 70 Lakh, 65 Thousand 610 Rupees as advance amount to be paid online.

Two cover procedures should be followed. A cover should have a technical qualification; On another cover, the contract should be mentioned.

Corporation Commissioner Pratap has announced that the meeting to explain the contract will be held at the Corporation’s main office on the 8th at 12:00 noon.

Allocation of alternate work

The Managing Director of Municipalities has ordered that 2,359 permanent employees, who are currently working, be assigned alternative jobs.

In it, it has been advised to hire permanent sanitation workers for the work of garbage composting center, park maintenance, toilet cleaning, bus stand, market cleaning, road and street cleaning, drain digging, health center cleaning, mosquito spraying, street cleaning etc.

It has been instructed to go to houses and commercial establishments in trolleys and battery vehicles and collect the garbage by sorting it through the workers to be appointed. The order has created an uproar among contract cleaning workers.
