Munnar: The piers of the iron bridge across the Mudraipuhi river in Munnar are sooty and dangerous.
An iron bridge was constructed using the funds of former assembly-nominated MLA Simon Brito, Devikulam ex-MLA, Rajendran to connect the city and Mattupatti Road in Munnar.
After the bridge came into use, maintenance work was not carried out for many years due to confusion in maintenance work.
Therefore, the iron pillars and side bars of the bridge are rusted and in a very dangerous condition.
There were complaints that the bridge would soon be damaged due to the use of low-quality steel bars. The public has demanded that the authorities should come forward to repair the bridge before any mishaps occur.
