Madurai: A contract for Rs 75 lakh was sought last year to upgrade the Eco Park (Eco Park) and set up an ‘Animatronics’ park at the Madurai Thallakulam Corporation Centre. The plan has not yet been implemented; The park is not maintained.

When the park came into use, modern decorative devices including musical fountain and laser lights were installed. It was left unattended during the Corona lockdown. In the earlier Commissioner Karthikeyan’s initiative, Chennai’s Senior Nuclear Scientist Daniel Chellappa had planned to treat waste water and green the park.

In addition, it was announced that ‘animatronics’ technology, a combination of animation and electronics, will be brought to the park to make animals including dinosaurs and other toys electrically walk, dance, move, talk and make noise.

A contract of Rs 75 lakh has been requested and it is reported that the park will be renovated with many facilities including 20 animatronics toys, entrance gate, electric lights on the walkway, sound system, notice boards, seats, game, selfie points, cafeteria, gift shop, free toilets.

But till today none of these works have started. Day by day the park bush is falling. Statues made from old automobile spare parts are broken. Although the existing plants, vines and trees have been maintained to some extent, some trees have been cut down. Environmentalists and councilors have said that the officials who come to the corporation every day have no intention of improving the park.
