Tamil News | Gas that comes in the pipe for the home kitchen!

by time news
The Central Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board has taken forward the plan to supply piped natural gas to households in 300 districts by 2030 across the country.

The scheme is operational in 10 cities in Delhi, Mumbai and Gujarat. In Tamil Nadu, Indian Oil Company has got the right to implement this scheme in 12 districts including Coimbatore.

In Coimbatore district, 9 lakh 12,783 houses will be supplied with piped natural gas (PNG) under the name ‘City Gas’. The work of bringing natural gas through the pipeline from Kochi terminal has been completed.

A City Gate station has been set up at Bichanuar to supply PNG. This center has the capacity to handle 13 thousand cubic meters of natural gas per hour, which will meet the natural gas requirement of Coimbatore.

Gas distribution will not be blocked!

For this project, metal pipes are laid in many parts of the district and from there plastic (polyethylene) pipes are laid on the roads and brought to the houses within the city. Soil will not corrode these pipes. In no case will it be affected.
PNG is brought from the street into the houses through GI (Galvanized Iron) pipes. Of this, the cost of pipe up to 15 meters length is free. Meters will be installed in houses.

A valve is placed for every one km. Thus, if there is any problem, distribution can be banned immediately in a specific area only.
A region has gas distribution from both poles. All parts are ‘connected’ so that even if there is an interruption at one end, it can be supplied from another end.

Many apartments in urban areas have already set up ‘gas banks’ and supply piped gas to homes. For those apartments, it is enough to provide a connection to gas bank.
In the first phase, 90 thousand connections will be provided to Kurichi, Kalapatti, Cheranmanagar, Sulular, Vellalur and then Vinayakapuram and Saravanampatti.

So far 4,000 applications have been received and 200 households have been connected; In a couple of months, distribution will begin. All homes across the district will be connected in eight years; Cottages will not be provided.
To join this scheme, the fee is Rs 6,000. Only 618 rupees are collected in the first phase. No need to give money to anyone for any reason. Payment can be made through online, cheque, UPI, transactions. Contact 94880 03599 for details.

What is the difference between the two?

n LPG and gas cylinders are now distributed to households. Coming in the pipeline is natural gas called PNG. LPG, density; Natural gas density decreased; Very safe. LPG, if it leaks, sticks to the floor. PNG mixes with air and evaporates easily.

n 14.5 kg LPG, the gas pressure of the cylinder is 2 bar on average. But the pressure of pipeline natural gas is only 20 millibar. So, there is no need to worry about accidents. No hassles like booking, vehicle transportation, cylinder loading.

In n LPG, we pay for the weight of gas. But it is enough to pay for the amount of energy we use in PNG.

n LPG is less flammable than gas. But there will be no variation in the cooking time. n Charges are 15 to 20 percent less than LPG. The burner for natural gas is slightly larger. Just change it.

Payment method as per choice

n Payments can be made monthly or bi-monthly, as desired. Like prepaid, you can also pay in advance. Electricity bill can be paid in the same way as metered payment.
n Even if it is a rental house, the tenant can pay as much as he uses, just like paying for electricity. Usage only charges.n Temporary disconnection facility is also available for various reasons including going abroad.
n It is not mandatory to return existing cylinders. You can keep one and surrender the other. If surrendered, the amount will be deducted from the pipeline connection fee.
