Jammu: A woman named Ranjeet Kaur from Kunjwani area of ​​Jammu district in Kashmir has the honor of becoming the first woman auto driver in the state. The woman is happy that she is receiving praise and even those who criticized her are now surprised. In the Union Territory of Kashmir, a project called ‘Umit’ is being implemented under the Jammu and Kashmir National Rural Livelihood Movement with the help of the central government. This program is implemented with the aim of empowering women to become self-employed.
With the aim of encouraging women to save, under this scheme women self-help groups are given low-interest loans from banks. Many women have benefited from this scheme. It is also the cause of many people getting out of poverty.

My husband is also an auto driver. Due to family problems I decided to help him. At first he refused, but later he accepted. Immediately I am driving an auto under the ‘Umit’ scheme.
There is no shame in doing any work. Why should I worry about other people’s criticism while helping the family?
Unemployed graduates should avail the benefits available through the schemes announced by the central and union territory governments. This is what Ranjeet Kaur said.
