CHENNAI: It seems that the registration department is planning to raise the guideline values for land by up to 50 percent.

A registration department official said:

Only through the State Central Committee for Guideline Values can the procedure for raising Guideline Values be formulated.

The meeting was held online yesterday under the chairmanship of Registration Department Chief Shivan Arul. In it, guideline value practices were discussed.

The market value of land in Tamil Nadu has increased significantly since June 9, 2017. Therefore, values valid from 1st Apr, 2012 to 8th June, 2017 cannot be applied to today’s context as such.

Therefore, it is necessary to take some administrative decisions. Accordingly, while implementing the values as on June 8, 2017, it should be ensured that broadly all values have a 50 percent increase.

It has been discussed in the meeting that the areas which were agricultural land in 2012, but have now become residential land, can adhere to the new high values. An official decree in this regard will be issued soon

This is what he said.
