Sivaganga: The government has decided to implement ‘mobile’ ration shops in Tamil Nadu from next month under the One Nation, One Ration scheme. Through this, the goods will be delivered at home.

In Tamil Nadu, there are 1.96 crore ration cards. 24 thousand, 58 full time, 9,644 part time and 33 thousand, 702 ration shops are distributed to these card holders.

These stores are supplied with goods from 245 Consumer Goods Corporation warehouses across the state. The Government of Tamil Nadu is going to implement the ‘Mobile’ Ration Shop scheme from May 2023, which will go to the homes of the cardholders and distribute the goods under the ‘Ore Nadu Ore Ration’ scheme.

The respective Primary Agricultural Credit Societies should purchase their own vehicles and equip them with GPS equipment. With this, private vehicle contracts should be phased out. Except when carrying goods to ration shops, at other times in Primary Agriculture Co-operative Credit Societies, revenue is earned by renting out purchase vehicles.

Apart from this, they have said that ‘mobile’ ration shops should be divided ward-wise in their respective areas and goods should be distributed to all the cardholders in one country and one ration scheme. The government has ordered that the respective co-operative joint registrars should carry out the work for this purpose.

A Cooperative Department official said that ‘mobile’ ration shop scheme will be implemented in all districts except Chennai from May and goods will be provided to the card holders at home.
