OPS opposed AIADMK general committee resolutions and general secretary election. Madras High Court Judge K. Kumareshbabu is going to judge tomorrow in the cases filed by others.

Manoj Pandian, Vaithilingam, J.C.T. protested against the resolutions including removal from the party and creation of the post of General Secretary in the AIADMK general meeting held on July 11 last year. Justice K. Kumaresh Babu had ordered AIADMK and Edappadi Palaniswami to respond to the petitions filed by Prabhakar.

Case against General Secretary Election Notification – Arguments by OPS

Along with the three of them, O. Panneerselvam had also filed additional petitions seeking cancellation of the announcement of AIADMK general secretary election. When these petitions came up for hearing before Justice Kumaresh Babu, it was argued that the removal from the party without giving any opportunity and giving any reason was arbitrary and unfair and the decisions taken by saying that any decision can be taken because of the majority is against the intention of the party founder.

It was alleged that all the members of the general committee were appointed by the coordinator and co-coordinator and they were removed from the party by bringing a special resolution in the July 11 general committee without any agenda regarding the decision to remove them from the party. But it was pointed out that no discussion was held on this special resolution.

It was alleged that the decision was taken to remove him, who held an important position, so that Edappadi Palanichami could get the post of General Secretary. It was alleged that the general secretary election was not intended to create a single leadership, but with the intention that Palaniswami should get the post unopposed.

Answers given by the AIADMK side

Responding to the arguments put forward by the OPS, the AIADMK side said that on June 23, the party, MGR and Jayalalithaa’s reputation was tarnished and the looting of the party office was the reason for passing a resolution to remove them in the July 11 General Assembly, as the general secretary election is being held as the voice of the party. It was also informed that it cannot be prevented. It was argued that apart from passing the resolution to cancel the posts, the posts were not declared expired and the eligibility conditions were introduced for the general secretary election to prevent those who had no support in the party from contesting.

OPS The AIADMK side explained that while he was the coordinator, no notice was given before removing his brother Raja, the party’s Karnataka state executive Bengaluru Pugahendi and others, and the same procedure was followed to remove them from the party.

Judgment tomorrow

The judgment on the cases was adjourned for an unspecified date as all parties concluded their arguments. In this case, Judge K. Kumareshbabu is going to announce the verdict tomorrow (March 28).
