Electoral Roll

In 2018, elections were held for cooperative societies in Tamil Nadu. Their term ends in four phases from April to August.

In the first phase, the Co-operative Societies Election Commission is engaged in the process of conducting elections for 4,684 societies whose term ends next month.

For this purpose, a voter list containing the details of members who can vote in each association is being prepared.

Name not deleted

In this regard, an official of the Cooperative Department said:

In order to prevent malpractice in cooperative society elections, it has been ordered to register membership ration card number and Aadhaar number in the management book of the society.

If a member dies, his/her name should be removed with the approval of the Executive Committee. Over the years, the names of deceased members have not been removed.

Therefore, it has been directed to get the list of dead from the district medical department and delete the names of the deceased members.

This is what he said.
