In Coimbatore district, there are 310 milk producers cooperative societies. Every day, 300 to 500 liters of milk is supplied to Aavin milk production center from each society.

Aavin is currently offering milk producers between Rs 31 and Rs 33 per litre. This cost has become unaffordable due to rising feed prices; The milk producers are continuously protesting to increase this amount.

Some milk producers sell milk to private dairies. There is a blockage in the milk coming to the steamer. Due to this, the production of curd, ghee and butter has been temporarily suspended. Ramanathan, General Manager of Coimbatore, said, “The sale of ghee and butter has been stopped due to shortage of milk supply. It will be on sale again in a few months,” he said.
