Theni-Teni municipality has not provided pushcarts to the rotor traders under the central government scheme.

The central government’s National Urban Livelihoods Movement, Deenadayal Antiyothaya Yojana schemes are providing pushcarts to the rotora traders.

In Bodi and Periyakulam municipalities of the district, pushcarts are being provided and used by traders.

The recycling center at KRR Nagar, Theni Municipality has 111 push carts ready to be delivered to traders and kept in stock for more than a month. Ready-made pushcarts are not provided.

The carts are priced at Rs.98 thousand each. Among these, 102 carts have come for selling vegetables, 4 carts for selling food items and 5 carts for flowers.

According to municipal officials, 1,414 traders have applied to get pushcarts.

We are conducting field surveys to see if the applicants are traders. Selection of beneficiaries is now over. We are going to deliver the carts in ten days. They said.
