The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for two days of heavy rains in Tamil Nadu today and tomorrow. It has been raining heavily in various districts since yesterday due to the circulation of atmospheric overlay along the coast of Tamil Nadu. In Tamil Nadu, Puduvai received 59% more rainfall than the current northeast monsoon. 45 cm from October 1st to yesterday. 71 cm of rainfall was forecast. Heavy rainfall has been reported. This is 59% more rainfall than normal. The northeast monsoon season in Tamil Nadu is from October to December. The northeast monsoon began on October 25. Despite the moderate rainfall at the beginning, the intensity of the rains started increasing from November onwards.
The Met Office said it had received 70 percent more rain. The slightly resting rain in December finally poured down in a single day. More than 20 cm of rainfall has been reported in many parts of Chennai. Chennai is flooded with rain in a single day. The current Northeast monsoon has received 59% more rainfall than normal. In Chennai, it rained for 10 hours in one day yesterday. The Chennai DGP’s office received heavy rain. There the cow received 237.10 mm of rain. Chennai Nungambakkam received 230.80 mm of rainfall. West Mambalam received 220 mm of rainfall. Heavy rain has been reported in these 3 places.
Chennai, Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur, Cuddalore and Chengalpattu districts have been receiving heavy rains since this morning. The Met Office has forecast thundershowers in Chennai, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Thiruvannamalai, Ranipettai, Vellore, Kallakurichi, Villupuram and Cuddalore districts for the next three hours.
