This socio-humanitarian initiative, organized in collaboration with the Provincial Delegation of Health and Social Protection and the Association of Public Health Physicians of Tangier (AMSPT), aims to bring specialized medical services closer to the inhabitants of this commune and to improve maternal and child health in rural areas.

In a statement to MAP, the head of the Social Action Division (DAS) in the prefecture of Tangier-Assilah, Ismael Moutaouakil, stressed that this caravan, which stopped at the commune of Al Aouama, is part of the activation of the axis relating to maternal and child health of the 4th program of the third phase of the INDH, through the organization of eight awareness campaigns and two medical caravans in rural areas.

He noted that the organization of this multidisciplinary medical caravan coincides with the International Day of Rural Women, celebrated on October 15 each year, adding that this caravan will place particular emphasis on services in line with the promotion of maternal health. and children in rural areas.

This caravan aims to offer medical services to around 1,000 beneficiaries, with specialized consultations and free distribution of medicines to patients, he said.

For his part, the provincial delegate of the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Said Bouda, focused on the program established between partners to promote the health of mothers and children throughout the year 2024 , noting that this caravan covers several specialties, including gynecology-obstetrics, pediatrics, endocrinology, general medicine, ENT, dentistry, cardiology, as well as early detection of breast cancer and cervical cancer. the uterus.

The provincial official also indicated that this caravan aims to provide services to around 1,000 people, specifying that a team of 120 professionals, including general practitioners and specialists, pharmacists, nurses, technicians and administrative staff, is committed with dedication to ensuring the success of this initiative, which was welcomed with enthusiasm by the inhabitants of the commune of Al Aouama.

For her part, the president of the AMSPT, Kholoud Al Ahrach, indicated that this caravan, organized in parallel with the International Day of Rural Women and Pink October, focused its actions on breast and breast cancer screening. cervical cancer, adding that for this purpose, a room dedicated to ultrasound and another for the monitoring of pregnant women have been set up.

She specified that the caravan, which mobilized 6 pharmacists and more than 70 specialized doctors, is marked by the distribution of medicines, while offering medical consultations in several specialties, in addition to the organization of recreational, educational and sports for the benefit of the children of beneficiary women, under the supervision of a partner association, as well as several awareness workshops on the importance of maternal and child health and the crucial role of early childhood in the promotion of health and the child’s personality.

The association of public health doctors of Tangier, made up of general practitioners, specialists, dentists and pharmacists, plays a crucial role in the implementation of the program aimed at promoting maternal and child health in the prefecture of Tangier-Assilah, with eight awareness campaigns and two rural medical caravans, the next of which is planned for December, she said.

It should be noted that as part of program 4 of the INDH, dedicated to Boosting the human capital of rising generations, 161 projects were carried out between 2019 and May 2024, with a contribution from the initiative of around 73 .13 million dirhams, including the equipment of the maternity home in the commune of Ahad Al gharbia and support for its management, the acquisition of medical and paramedical equipment for health centers, the realization of more than 24 awareness campaigns benefiting more than 1,680 women, as well as the organization of a multidisciplinary medical caravan benefiting 700 people.
