Co-organized by the Morocco-Spain Economic Council (CEMAES) and the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region (CGEM-TTA), this Afterwork concludes a Business mission, organized by CEMAES for the benefit of a Catalan employers’ delegation, Foment Del Treball, one of the largest in Spain.

This event, which brought together representatives of institutions involved in the economic field, as well as economic players from both regions, aimed to create a framework conducive to exchanges and synergies between decision-makers and businessmen, thus contributing to the deepening of institutional and socio-economic links between Catalan companies and those from the TTA region.

In a statement to the press, the president of CGEM-TTA and co-president of CEMAES, Adil Rais, indicated that this day closes the 3-day visit of Catalan entrepreneurs, who came to explore business opportunities in Morocco and in particular in the Northern region, representing the Foment Del Treball, which is the oldest European business organization and among the oldest in the world, noting that the Foment brings together more than 250,000 members and represents nearly 20% of Spain’s GDP.

This delegation is composed of representatives of around 20 companies from several sectors, he continued, stressing that Morocco enjoys a developed economic environment, with competent human resources and significant infrastructure, capable of welcoming Catalan companies.

Mr. Rais estimated that by 2030, the Northern region will see the number of Catalan companies established there increase drastically, recalling that Spain is an important partner of Morocco, being among the first investors in the country, and the Catalan region is the Spanish region that invests the most in the Moroccan economy.

For his part, the president of Foment Del Treball, Josep Sanchez Libre, welcomed the warm welcome, the collaboration and the partnership relations with the regional authorities, as well as the CGEM-TTA, stating that an ambitious program will be implemented soon, which will double Catalan exports to Morocco and increase the number of Catalan companies established in the Kingdom in general, and in the Northern region in particular, from 160 to 400 by 2030.

He also affirmed that Foment and its members are aware of the great opportunities offered by the Kingdom and the TTA region in particular, which is full of enormous potential and represents a gateway to the African continent.

For the co-president of CEMAES, Clemente Gonzales Soler, Morocco is full of several economic opportunities, given its rapid and significant development, adding that several Spanish companies plan to establish themselves in the Moroccan market.

The role of CEMAES, he added, is to support and advise these Spanish companies that want to invest, but also Moroccan companies that would like to set up in Spain.

Representatives of the Agency for the Promotion and Development of the North (APDN), the Regional Investment Center (CRI) and the Foreign Exchange Office also gave presentations on the business opportunities in the region, the advantages offered to Spanish companies, as well as the specificities of the Moroccan economy, emphasizing the support and assistance mechanisms available to Spanish companies, particularly Catalan ones, wishing to invest in Morocco.
