The handover of the said projects took place during a ceremony chaired by the Wali of the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region, governor of the Tangier-Assilah prefecture, Younès Tazi, and the coordinator of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the reintegration of detained, Abdelouahed Jamali Idrissi.
With a total cost of more than 1.14 million dirhams, the income-generating projects cover several sectors including sewing, catering, maintenance, bookstores and even digital services.
This initiative is part of the strategy, developed in accordance with the High Royal Instructions, for the reintegration of prisoners, aimed at promoting reintegration programs and strengthening the values of solidarity, mutual aid and coexistence.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Tazi indicated that the “Moussalaha” program carries a strong social burden which embodies the high royal solicitude towards the situation of former detainees, evoking, in this sense, the partnership between the Foundation Mohammed VI for the reintegration of detainees and the National Coordination of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) which offers support and accompaniment to former detainees as part of INDH projects.
The wali also noted that the efforts made by the Foundation in collaboration with various stakeholders for the reintegration of former residents of penitentiary establishments, aims to ensure their support and their professional rehabilitation to facilitate their economic and social reintegration, calling for more efforts to ensure the success of these projects, in application of the High Royal Instructions aimed at paying particular attention to people in vulnerable situations.
For his part, Mr. Jamali Idrissi, noted in a statement to MAP, that this operation is part of the implementation of the High Royal Instructions aimed at facilitating the reintegration of former prisoners into society, noting that the “Moussalaha” program aims to reconcile former prisoners with themselves, with society and with the religious text.
In this sense, he emphasized the voluntary nature of the program for former prisoners, with the aim of reintegrating them socially to regain their role as actors in society.
“The projects submitted were developed taking into account skills and rehabilitation within penitentiary establishments, while taking into consideration the economic specificity of the beneficiary’s region of residence,” he explained.
On this occasion, a partnership agreement was sealed between the Provincial Human Development Committee (CPDH) of the Tangier-Asilah prefecture and the Mohammed VI Foundation for the reintegration of prisoners with a budget of nearly 1.44 million dirhams. This agreement aims to support small businesses and income-generating projects for the benefit of former inmates of penitentiary establishments.
The “Moussalaha” program is the result of a partnership between the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR), the Rabita Mohammadia des Ulemas, the National Human Rights Council (CNDH), and the Mohammed VI Foundation for the reintegration of prisoners.
This program benefited 215 residents, 157 of whom benefited from income-generating projects.
