The participants in this meeting, under the theme “Less water, more efficiency… Towards lasting industries”,noted that the preservation of water,as a natural resource essential too life,is a collective obligation that falls to both individuals and institutions.
Due to climate change and the increase in demand for water resources, “the rationalization of water use in industrial units is necessary to ensure environmental sustainability”, they underlined, recalling the High Royal Instructions calling for taking seriously the issue of water in all its dimensions, as well as global policies to rationalize water consumption and its preservation in the face of environmental and economic challenges and the growing scarcity of water resources.
mr. Ben Tayeb also underlined the importance of water for economic and social activities, specifying that its sustainability depends on rational management and the prevention of waste of this resource. In this sense, he called for industrialists to be made aware of the subject and to offer them solutions against waste, such as water recycling.
For her part, the vice-president of the Federation of Metallurgical, Mechanical and Electromechanical Industries (FIMME), Chaibia Balbzioui Alaoui, noted that the rationalization of the use of water in industrial units is one of the main challenges faced by modern industry, in a context of climate change and scarcity of water resources, adding that the success of sustainable industries relies largely on their ability to adopt responsible practices in the use of water, a key element in many industrial processes.
“The control of water resources will guarantee the strengthening of the bases of growth and economic and industrial activities, without which no responsible economic policy can be viable,” he continued, adding that industrialists occupy a central position in the management of the current water crisis, being those mainly concerned by the rationalization of this natural resource, essential to the economic, political and social base.
And to conclude that “controlling the consumption of water resources benefits both the consumer and society”.
