Tanjore student suicide case: High Court stays interim stay-Dinamani

The High Court has imposed an interim stay on the Ariyalur court hearing on the Ariyalur student suicide.
Ariyalu, a Plus 2 student, committed suicide by drinking poison at a private school in Michaelpatti near Thirukattupalli in Tanjore district. While he was being treated at the Tanjore Government Medical College Hospital, a video was released of him talking about forcing himself to convert to Christianity.
Parents and relatives subsequently joined the struggle, demanding action against the school administration and refusing to buy the student’s body. Similarly, across Tamil Nadu, the BJP staged a protest demanding justice for the death of a student. In this case, the police arrested the caretaker of the hostel where the student was staying.

Meanwhile, his father Muruganantham filed a petition in the Madurai branch of the Magistrate’s Court seeking transfer of the student’s suicide case to the CPCIT. During the final hearing, the petitioner sought a CBI inquiry. The court also ordered the CBI to probe the case.
An appeal was filed in the Supreme Court on Thursday against the order. In this situation, an interim stay has been imposed on the Ariyalur court hearing regarding the Ariyalur student suicide. The Chennai High Court has issued an injunction restraining the police from responding till February 16.
