This year, the theme of this event is “Debdou, civilization and history”, and this two-day edition is organized by the Ain Sbilia Association for Popular Arts in partnership with the Oriental Development Agency and the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication – Culture Sector – and with the support of the Hassan II Foundation for Moroccans living abroad.
This cultural event aims, according to its promoters, to highlight the cultural and artistic potential of this region, to promote Arab-Amazigh art, to present entertaining artistic and creative activities, as well as to encourage cultural tourism.
For the representative of the Regional Directorate of the Culture Sector, Khalid Berrada, this event recalls the cultural dimension and wealth as a fundamental factor in any development project aimed at promoting progress and prosperity of society.
He stressed, on this occasion, the importance of this event in the preservation of intangible cultural heritage, particularly local folklore, in addition to its role in the consecration of the authentic customs and traditions of the inhabitants of this region.
For his part, the president of the Ain Sbilia Association for Popular Arts, Ali Hamdaoui, emphasized, in a statement to MAP, the objectives of this event which aims to encourage cultural and artistic activities in the region, particularly music and popular arts, as well as to publicize the rich tourist potential of Debdo.
He explained that this event is part of the celebration of the 71st anniversary of the Revolution of the King and the People, which constitutes an opportunity to highlight the edifying scope and the profound symbolism of a renewed national epic to build and raise the buildings of the Nation and safeguard its territorial integrity, as well as the National Migrants Day, which is intended to be an opportunity to strengthen the attachment of MREs to their authentic Moroccan civilization and culture.
The opening ceremony was distinguished by the tribute paid to certain personalities, including members of the Moroccan community residing abroad for their contribution in the cultural, artistic and sporting fields, and by songs and dances of traditional music, performed by artistic groups coming from several cities of the Kingdom.
The program of this artistic and cultural event includes a set of diverse cultural, artistic and intellectual activities, in addition to a scientific symposium dealing with certain aspects of the history of this region.
The program also includes the organization of a tourist and cultural excursion to show the festival guests the historical monuments that the city of Debdo boasts, as well as its customs and traditions, in addition to a musical evening with the participation of a group of artists and folk troupes.
