The scheduled maintenance work on the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) natural gas transmission system, scheduled for August 5-9, 2024, will take place on the Upstream section of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), and not on the pipeline itself.

As reported by Day.Az, the TAP AG consortium said this in response to a request from Trend.

“As a result of the above-mentioned planned maintenance activities, although the TAP transmission system and its capacity will remain fully available, gas flows entering TAP at the Kipoi connection point are likely to be reduced and, consequently, supplies to all connection points in Komotini, Nea Mesimvria and Melendouno may be affected,” the consortium said.

TAP AG noted that TAP’s neighbouring transmission system operators had been informed and TAP had issued an urgent message to inform the market.

“We expect normal operations to resume once the scheduled maintenance work is completed,” the consortium said.

It should be noted that earlier the Turkish company BOTAS reported that the supply of Azerbaijani gas to Turkey would be suspended for several days due to repair work on the export gas pipeline.

“Due to scheduled maintenance and repair work on the export gas pipeline transporting gas from Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz field, gas supply to Turkey’s national gas distribution network will be stopped at the entry point in Turkgözü from July 31 to August 5, as well as at the entry point of TANAP in Seyitgazi from August 5 to 9,” the company said.

BOTAS assured that measures will be taken during this period to ensure a balance between supply and demand in Turkey’s national gas distribution network.

TAP is the European part of the Southern Gas Corridor, supplying 10 billion cubic meters of gas per year with the possibility of expansion to 20 billion cubic meters.
