Capital market regulatory body Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) commissioner Dr. The Financial Institutions Department of the Finance Ministry has given a three-month ultimatum to ATM Tarikuzzaman to relieve him from his post.

This information was informed in a notification issued on Wednesday (September 11) signed by Farida Yasmin, Deputy Secretary of the Financial Institutions Department of the Ministry of Finance.

It is mentioned in the announcement, Dr. ATM Tarikuzzaman, CPA, Commissioner, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission has been given three months’ notice to relieve him from his post as per clause no.8 of the agreement executed with the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission. He will not hold the post of Commissioner of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission from 10/12/2024. This order issued in public interest by order of the President will be effective immediately.

Earlier, on August 18, Khandkar Rashed Maksud was appointed as the chairman and on August 28, former senior district and session judge Md. Ali Akbar and Farzana Lalarukh were appointed as commissioners of BSEC by the Financial Institutions Department of the Ministry of Finance on September 3.

It should be noted that after the fall of the government on August 5, BSEC chairman Professor Shibli Rubaiyat-ul-Islam resigned on August 10. Two days later, on August 12, the commissioner resigned. Shamsuddin Ahmed and Dr. Rumana Islam.
