Acting Chairman of BNP Tariq Rahman called upon the interim government and party leaders to stand by the people affected by the terrible floods in the country.
He made this call in a post on his Facebook page on Wednesday (21 August) night.
Tarek Rahman said in the post, ‘Four districts of eastern and southeastern Bangladesh are affected by severe floods. Thousands of people are trapped in water. I call on the government to stand by the flood affected families. Along with this, I am calling on the leaders and activists of BNP at all levels to provide shelter, food and other ancillary assistance to the homeless. We must stand by each other in this time of danger.’
Incidentally, eight districts of the country have been flooded due to heavy rains and landslides. Flooding may be more widespread. Already, roads have sunk in various areas including Feni, Laxmipur, Noakhali, Comilla, Khagrachari, Habiganj, Moulvibazar. Millions of people have suffered due to flooding of their houses.
Since Tuesday night, the flood situation has worsened in Parashuram, Phulghazi and Chagalnaya in Feni due to landslides. People of these districts are living an inhumane life in such conditions.
