The founder of the Group-IB company, Ilya Sachkov, suspected of treason, could transfer data in the field of cyber security to foreign intelligence services, TASS reported, citing a law enforcement source. According to him, Mr. Sachkov is in a temporary detention center (IVS) on Petrovka, and then will be transferred to the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center.

“The investigation suspects Sachkov of transferring data to foreign special services, which constitute a state secret in the field of cybersecurity in Russia,” the agency quoted the source as saying.

The Lefortovo Court of Moscow on September 28 arrested Ilya Sachkov for two months on suspicion of treason. Under the article on treason, Mr. Sachkov faces up to 20 years in prison. The Kremlin said the case had nothing to do with the business and investment climate. The Group IB office was searched.

Group-IB creates information security software, cooperates with law enforcement agencies in investigating cyber incidents, and also provides services for protecting copyright on the Internet.
