Former Tata Sons Chairman Cyrus Mistry tragically died in a road accident near Mumbai
Former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry was returning from Ahmedabad to Mumbai in his Mercedes car when his car unexpectedly hit a divider at 3.15 pm at Palghar in Maharashtra. . Police said the accident took place on the Surya river bridge.
Police said there were four people in the car that crashed and two of them, including Cyrus Mistry, died. Two people, including the injured car driver, are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Gujarat. It is noteworthy that Cyrus Mistry was removed from the post of Tata Sons Group Chairman in October 2016 due to allegations of corruption.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said, “Shocked by the demise of former Tata Sons Chairman Cyrus Mistry. He was not only a successful businessman but also a young, bright and visionary personality in the industry. It is a great loss…my heartfelt tribute.” He said.
Union Minister Smriti Irani said, “Cyrus was the epitome of grace. The news of his demise comes as a shock as I will always remember him. My condolences to his family and loved ones.” He said.
