Tata Province: ONEE mobilizes to ensure the supply of drinking water to the towns of Foum Zguid and Akka following severe weather

Tata – The Province of Tata recorded, on February 16 and 17, 2023, heavy rainfall which caused disruptions in the drinking water supply to the towns of Foum Zguid and Akka during the period from February 17 to 19, 2023.

These bad weather conditions damaged the main pipes carrying drinking water to these two cities due to the high flooding of the Oued Nsoula near Foum Zguid and the Oued Akka, indicates a press release from the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE).

During this period, ONEE ensured the supply of drinking water to subscribers in the Foum Zguid center from local resources not affected by the floods. The supply of drinking water to subscribers in the Akka center was ensured by tanker trucks mobilized by the local authorities.

Furthermore, and with a view to restoring the drinking water supply to the populations of these two centres as soon as possible, significant human and material resources have been mobilised by ONEE with the support of the local authorities and the Territorial Municipalities concerned, despite the constraints due to the persistence of water flows in the intervention zones at the level of Oued Nsoula and Oued Akka.

The definitive restoration of the drinking water supply situation in the two cities took place on February 20, 2023.

“The Office remains at the disposal of its customers for further information and informs them that its teams are mobilized to ensure the drinking water supply service in the Province of Tata in the best conditions,” notes the same source.
