Tata Motors Set to Launch New Punch.EV Model in Electric Vehicle Market
Tata Motors is gearing up to make a significant impact in the battery electric vehicle market as it prepares to launch the new Punch.EV model on January 5, 2024. The company has announced that bookings for the Punch EV will start immediately and it is expected to go on sale by the end of January.
The Punch EV will be available in two variants: MR and LR, based on different battery options. Tata Motors, India’s leading electric vehicle manufacturer, has already seen success with models like Nexon.EV, Decor.EV, and Tiago.EV. The Punch model is expected to be priced starting at Rs 10 lakh.
To cater to the growing demand for electric vehicles, Tata Motors has opened an exclusive dealership for electric vehicles, with the public opening set for January 7th. Punch Electric also confirmed the upcoming launch by releasing a teaser on social media today.
The new Punch EV is expected to feature updated design elements such as new alloy wheels, an updated LED tail lamp, a revised front grille, and LED projector lamps. The interior is likely to include a two-spoke steering wheel, a 10.25-inch infotainment system, and a digital cluster. Additionally, the car will be equipped with features such as a 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake with auto hold, and six airbags.
The MR variant of the Punch EV will be powered by a 26 kWh battery pack, similar to the Decor model, producing 75 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque. It has been certified by ARAI to offer a range of 315 km on a single charge. The LR variant, on the other hand, will be equipped with a 30 kWh battery pack, similar to the Nexon.EV MR model, delivering 129 PS of power and 215 Nm of torque. It has also been certified to offer a range of 325 km on a single charge.
With the Punch.EV set to be priced within Rs.10 lakhs, Tata Motors is poised to make a strong impact in the electric vehicle market. It’s worth noting that the Tata Punch with an internal combustion engine has recently reached a production milestone of 3 lakh units.
