There may be many reasons for this unequal distribution, but it cannot be due to quality. The new Saarbrücken episode demonstrates this The curse of money (SR editors: Christian Bauer, Degeto editors: Birgit Titze, Trevor Vorjohann), where the constant, featureless mumbling of the composer Daniel Hoffknecht often sounds like mediocre elevator music. The soundtrack at least fits the film, because it’s only mediocre.

Screenwriter Hendrik Hölzemann has come up with a story that at times comes across as unintentionally funny. The focus is on a group of four outlaws who pass the time in the Saarbrücken casino with gambling and also with daring bets – will the pigeon fly away in the next ten seconds, who will hold their breath the longest and run the fastest? Or, as it turns out in the end: Who can sit on the valance in a stolen car with their eyes closed for the longest time? During this action at the beginning, Inspector Hölzer (Vladimir Burlakov) is almost hit on the country road and therefore does not want to believe that the subsequent accident of an older lady (Trish Osmond) was a natural cause of death.

Because the owner of the stolen (and then parked) car was in the casino, Hölzer goes there, where the suspect crew thankfully draws attention to themselves by being particularly loud. Fortunately, the police officer had already sensed that the four of them were also giving in to the thrill of winning away from the roulette table. The prospect of the 100,000 euros that Hölzer wants to bet on a bet causes the crew to lose all skepticism about the police officer’s approach. Hölzer gets the money from colleague and BFF Schürk (Daniel Sträßer), who still has the stolen inheritance from his criminal family from the last episode a year ago in the trunk of his car.

The four crew members include the burglar Dino Callas (Daniel Zillmann), who is in love with Betty Hentschel (Susanne Bormann). Who in turn is with Taleb Hamsa (Omar El-Saeidi), although he is considered violent towards women and apparently cannot fulfill Betty’s desire to have children. Fourth in the round is Luisa Becker (Jasmina Al Zihairi), who comes out on top in the group’s competition with blades, but then unfortunately dies of a heroin overdose.

Or rather, was killed, as it turns out towards the end. The resolution then turns out to be a crime-comedy highlight: the most underestimated character has linked everyone. Betty Henschel, pregnant by Dino and with the money Dino stole from Schürk’s trunk, is sitting on the plane on the way to a new life. So that Taleb doesn’t get in her way, Betty instigated him to give Luisa an overdose and documented the murder for the police.
