BOLZANO. They are the residents of the Metropolitan City of Milanor the most “harassed” Irpef taxpayers in Italy: in 2022 they paid to the treasury an average tax on personal income equal to 8.527 euro. The Irpef subjects of Rome follow with 7,092, of Monza-Brianza with 6,574, of Bolzano with 6,472 and Bologna with 6,323. The estimate is from the Research Office of Cgia di Mestre (Venice) which has drawn up the ranking for the average Irpef amount paid to the treasury in the 107 Italian provinces. The least “harassed”, however, are the residents of South Sardiniawhich in 2022 paid 3,338 euros per person. The national average figure stood at 5,381 euros. The territories where the average Irpef tax is more significant, underlines the Cgia, are also those where the income levels are higher.
Furthermore, compared to the vast majority of other urban areas, these citizens pay more, but at the same time benefit from public services that often have levels of quality not found elsewhere. Among the 107 Italian provinces monitored by Cgia, Rome has the highest number of Irpef taxpayers, 2.9 million people of which 1.7 are employed workers, 904 thousand pensioners, 107 thousand self-employed workers and 64,300 subjects with income from participation. Milan follows with 2.4 million, Turin and Naples both with 1.6, Brescia with 927,100, Bari with 828,500, Bergamo with almost 823 thousand and Bologna with 796,700.
There are just over 42 million Irpef taxpayers in Italy, of which 23.3 declare income from employment, 14.5 declare pension income, 1.6 are self-employed and 1.6 have other income (rents, land, income from movable property). The percentage of taxpayers who paid less than the national average stood at 69%. This means that in Italy almost seven out of 10 Irpef taxpayers pay less than the average. The area with the lowest percentage, equal to 60%, is the autonomous province of Bolzano. Lazio follows with 63%, Lombardy with 64%, Valle d’Aosta with 66% and Emilia Romagna and Liguria both with 67%.
The areas, however, where the rate of less wealthy taxpayers The highest rates are in Calabria, where 78% of taxpayers pay less than the national average, the Autonomous Province of Trento with 80% and Marche with 84%.
