Doha: The matter of including more products in the scope of excise tax is under consideration in Qatar.

It aims to increase non-oil revenue next year.

Raising the fees of government services is also under consideration. This was revealed by Finance Minister Ali bin Ahmed Alkhwari while presenting the budget. Although these matters have not been included in the budget for the next financial year, discussions with the concerned departments are in progress. 4,200 crores from non-oil sectors is expected next year.

The 2023 budget estimates revenue of 22,800 crore riyals and expenditure of 19,900 crore riyals. The deficit budget of 2,900 crore riyals was prepared based on the oil price of 65 dollars per barrel. The new budget has reduced the expenditure to 19,900 crore Rials compared to the current year.

The 2023 budget is expected to generate 18,600 crore riyals from the oil and gas sector.
