Emmanuel Macron and Elisabeth Borne have said it several times: the time is not over for the pension reform. On the other hand, it is being studied for tax cuts. According to our information, the executive seems determined to postpone certain presidential promises, given the budgetary context. “The idea would be to take a break. In particular for inheritance rights and conjugalization for all of income tax, ”assures a weighty member of the government. A final arbitration is still awaited while the preparation of the budget for 2024 has just started.

Reducing inheritance tax was Emmanuel Macron’s campaign promise last year. While Valérie Pécresse had not yet collapsed in the polls, the Head of State had drawn in the spring of 2022 a measure very similar to what candidate LR was proposing, no doubt to pull the rug out from under her: it was a question of raising the deductions on inheritance rights from 100,000 euros to 150,000 euros for children.
