jpnn.com – NEW YORK CITY – Taylor Fritz won an all-American duel in the 2024 US Open semifinals at Arthur Ashe Stadium, New York City, Saturday (7/9) afternoon WIB.

Fritz defeated Frances Tiafoe 4-6, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 in a match lasting three hours and 18 minutes.

“I tried my best to play his (Tiafoe) game. He is very strong on the baseline,” Fritz told the US Open on-court crew after the match.

Fritz also set a record, becoming the first US men’s singles finalist at a grand slam since Andy Roddick reached the 2009 Wimbledon final, and the first at the US Open since Roddick in 2006.

“A dream come true, the US Open final,” he said.

Fritz now has a golden opportunity to become the first American man to lift a grand slam men’s singles crown since Roddick did so at the US Open 21 years ago.

In the final, Fritz, who is currently ranked 12th in the world, will face Italy’s world number one tennis player Jannik Sinner.

“I know the match against Jannik will be very tough, but I will try my best,” he said.
