Taylor Fritz recorded tonight (Saturday) the greatest achievement of his career. The 24-year-old American, who is ranked 20th in the world, defeated Andrei Rublev, seventh in the world, 5: 7, 4: 6, and advanced to the finals of the 1,000 Indian Wells Masters tournament, in his country California in the United States. Fritz is waiting in the final for the winner of the intriguing derby between Carlos Alkras and Rafael Nadal.
Fritz scored a break in the sixth game of the first set and seemed to be on his way to a comfortable win in the set as he continued all the way to 2: 5, but Rublev managed to get back to business with a break and equalized to 5: 5. But at the end of a long game the American managed to get another break and win the battle with 5: 7 when on the other hand the nervous Russian beats his fists with his bat until he bleeds. In the second set Fritz achieved one break, just in time, i.e. in the last game, which is 4: 6 and a huge victory for him. This will be Fritz’s first final in the Masters 1,000 round.
