Taylor Swift breaks a winning record: last night (Sunday), the MTV video-clip awards ceremony, or officially the VMA, took place. The event takes place every year in the months of August/September in the United States, starting in 1984, and gives awards for excellence in the field of contemporary music, with an emphasis on work related to video clips.
The who’s who of the music industry gathered at the festive ceremony in New Jersey, where all the big stars arrived in spectacular outfits, and included live performances, speeches, and the awarding of prizes to the winners.
This year, the prestigious “Video of the Year” award was given to the singer Taylor Swift, who won it for the music video All Too Well. Swift broke the record for winning the award, and this is the third time she has won the honor. She previously won in 2019 with You Need to Calm Down and in 2015 with Bad Blood.

Swift took advantage of the exciting occasion to share with the adoring audience the announcement of the release of her new album, which is expected to be released on October 21.
The new album will be called “Midnight”, and will consist of 13 songs she wrote over the years. “It’s a collection of songs written in the middle of the night, in the waking hours of love, fear, storm and tears,” Swift wrote in a post about the new album. “Midnight, is the story of 13 nights during my life”.
The award, given in the form of a figurine of a moon man, was also given to the Red Hot Chili Peppers who won the rock song award and the global icon award, Harry Seitels who won three awards out of five nominations, and won the album of the year award, the pop song award and the photography award. Styles did not attend the event, as he was appearing on stage at Madison Square Garden at the time, and his winning speech was broadcast on a pre-recorded video.

Award-winning Billie Eilish won Song of the Year, and the Video Pioneer Award, previously awarded to The Beatles, Madonna and Beyoncé, went to Lizzo.
Among the surprising attendees of the evening was Johnny Depp, this is his first public appearance since the end of the high-profile trial he conducted against Amber Heard, his ex-wife.
Unlike other prestigious ceremonies, the VMA ceremony is known for the wild locks with which the invitees arrive, as opposed to the classics and couture that dominate other red carpet ceremonies. A striking and well-remembered example is Lady Gaga’s performance in 2020, in a provocative dress made of pieces of raw meat.
