Taylor Swift’s Support for Kamala Harris Steals the Spotlight After Epic Debate with Donald Trump

by time news

The most defining moment of the debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump came immediately after its conclusion, when Taylor Swift endorsed Harris for the presidency.

In a post on Instagram, the popular singer showed support for the Democratic candidate, potentially bringing her far more votes than the debate itself, in which Harris is considered the winner for managing to put Trump on the defensive.

The economy, the number one issue concerning American voters, immigration, abortion, democracy, and climate change were the main topics the two candidates addressed in the first – and likely the last – debate between them.

Trump held back and didn’t come off as as much of a misogynist as expected, given that he was facing a woman and a Black candidate. However, he did not hold back when it came to lies, claiming, for example, that Democrats support “post-birth abortions” or that immigrants from Haiti “eat dogs and cats” in a city in Ohio.

When Kamala “hit Trump’s sore spot”

During the debate, Harris constantly attempted to irritate Trump, and he “bit the bait” every time: she told him, for example, that world leaders are mocking him and labeled him as “weak,” but the comment that seemed to really “hit a sore spot” was when Harris told him that his campaign rallies are “boring.”

The Republican candidate often appeared out of control in his responses, unrepentant about his false claims of election fraud in 2020, dramatic (e.g., “our nation is dying”) and excessive (e.g., “I hold the most incredible campaign rallies in the history of politics”).

The debate was the first time Harris and Trump met in person. Indicative of the fact that the current Vice President emerged as the winner of the debate is that Republicans are already complaining that the two ABC journalists who questioned the two candidates for the White House were biased against Trump and favored Harris.
