The INDH’s interest in these cooperatives is demonstrated in the support and guidance which have helped to increase their number and considerably accelerate the pace of their performance in recent years.
In this context, the INDH supports players in the social and solidarity economy and develops their activities, particularly through financial and technical support, with a view to helping them market their products.
The commemoration of the International Day of Cooperatives, celebrated this year under the banner of “Cooperatives building a better future for all”, is an opportunity to highlight the crucial role of cooperatives in building a sustainable future in line with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
It is also an opportunity to highlight the efforts made by the INDH to support cooperatives, promote their values and revive the cooperative entrepreneurial spirit.
The head of the department of the third program for improving income and economic inclusion of young people of the INDH in the province of Taza, Hassan Kerouani, indicated that the celebration of this occasion aims to highlight the important role played by cooperatives in the socio-economic integration of young people, by creating employment opportunities and contributing to local development.
He added, in a statement to MAP, that the INDH in the province of Taza contributed, between 2019 and 2023, to supporting and financing around thirty cooperatives within the framework of the third program relating to the improvement of income and the economic inclusion of young people, for a total cost exceeding 6.8 million dirhams (MDH), with a contribution from the INDH estimated at 4.5 MDH.
He also highlighted the efforts of the INDH to increase the number of cooperatives and create more employment opportunities for young people, thus contributing to the development of the local economy.
The Koussa cooperative, specializing in beekeeping and the promotion of honey in the commune of Ghayata (Oued Amilil circle) is a fine example of the success of the INDH’s efforts in the field of promoting the social and solidarity economy in the province of Taza.
Its president, Ahmed Latrach, indicated that thanks to the support of the INDH, the cooperation managed to obtain this year the certificate of the National Office of Food Safety (ONSAA), allowing it to integrate the markets through regional, national and international exhibitions and to facilitate the marketing of its products.
Another model of successful cooperatives is the Jnanate cooperative for the decoration and manufacture of wooden products in the commune of Bouchfaa, in the province of Taza, which was created in 2019 with the financial and technical support of the INDH.
In a statement to MAP, its president Samira Merzouk indicated that thanks to the financial support provided by the INDH, this cooperative acquired new machines for the manufacture of wooden products, specifying that the intervention of the Initiative had a significant impact on the work of the cooperative and on the conditions of several of its members.
Ms. Marzouk added that thanks to this support, the cooperative is working towards integrating new markets in order to market its products.
The Round Cup tourism and mountain sports cooperative is another cooperative that has benefited from INDH monitoring and technical support since 2023.
This cooperative plays an important role in developing the natural and tourist potential of the province of Taza and its cultural heritage by offering a range of services concerning mountain and environmental tourism.
According to its president, Fatima Zahra Lazrak, the International Day of Cooperatives represents an opportunity to highlight the positive role of cooperatives at the local level, adding that this cooperative was able, thanks to the support of the INDH, to obtain equipment relating to the tourist sector contributing to tourist animation and the promotion of local culture.
