Started on the morning of this Wednesday (31), the inspection of auditors from the TCE-MS (State Court of Auditors) in health units in Campo Grande will be extended to other municipalities in Mato Grosso do Sul.

The information was given by the coordinator of the action in the State, Haroldo OIiveira Souza. He also said that the team involved is made up of 22 external auditors, something unprecedented for the TCE-MS, which usually employs a smaller number of people in this type of work. “It’s a test of this inspection model. We’ve never worked with such a large team,” he said.

The forecast is that the inspection will end at the end of the day in the Capital, when a total of 33 units will have received the TCE-MS. So far, the agency’s auditors have been at the UBSs (Basic Health Units) Mata do Jacinto, Coronel Antonino, 26 de Agosto, Vila Carlota and Estrela do Sul.

The main points observed are infrastructure, medicines and inputs, and services in general, with emphasis on those provided by health workers.

Among the problems already encountered are the inhalation room used as a pantry; absence of pharmacist; bathroom not adapted for use by disabled person; poor conditions in the structure and equipment of health units. O Campo Grande News detailed here.

Motivation – Haroldo also explained that the inspection was not motivated by complaints or political interests that foresee effects for 2024, the year of municipal elections.

“We have the bias of making a diagnosis and it is a project that will be expanded to the entire state. There is no denouncement or policy bias, and nothing specific happened that motivated the inspection. It was planned. All Courts of Auditors States have this perspective of analyzing health services throughout Brazil”, he justified.

The coordinator also stressed that the action was previously announced and that it was not a surprise. “What we want is to know if the services are offering what society is expecting”, he pointed out.

Developments – In two or three weeks, the result of inspections in Campo Grande will be presented to the rapporteur of the action, councilor Marcio Monteiro. From there, the next steps will be defined. “The reporting council will receive a final report and will then be able to make recommendations and define the most sensitive points to be deepened in future inspections”, includes Haroldo.

The TCE-MS has not yet finalized a schedule with the municipalities of Mato Grosso do Sul that will receive the action.
