Ramachandran, a primary school teacher of Keezambal Panchayat Union of Ramanathapuram District, who was selected from Tamil Nadu, received the Good Teacher Award from the President. At the ceremony, the incident of receiving the award in the government school uniform impressed all the onlookers.
Every year, on Teachers’ Day, the National Teacher Award is presented by the President. The School Education and Literacy Department of the Union Ministry of Education is giving out the Good Teacher Award to honor the teachers who have excelled in the teaching method.
The meritorious award list is prepared on the basis of objective types of evaluation such as school attendance record, concern for student welfare, research paper, reduction of dropout defects and performance evaluation such as creativity, innovation in co-curriculum, work for national development. For this year’s award, 46 teachers from across the country were selected after applications were received through the internet and almost 3 layers of scrutiny.
The President paid his respects
Earlier, the President paid respects to the portrait of former President Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan at the President’s House.
It is reported that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with the National Teacher Award winners today. Earlier, he congratulated the teachers and said, “On #TeachersDay especially to all the hard working teachers who spread the joys of education in the minds of the youth, I salute our former President Dr. Radhakrishnan on his birthday.”
