Team Germany games to watch at the Paris Olympics this weekend

In the first week of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Germany managed to win six medals: two gold medals in swimming and rowing events, two silver medals in canoe slalom and judo, and two bronze medals in swimming and sailing.

That leaves Germany in 13th place on the world stage, in terms of gold medals won during these games, as of Friday afternoon. China is currently in first place, and is ahead of Germany, New Zealand and Romania.

But the games will continue until August 11th. So there are many more opportunities for German athletes to go for gold – and amaze audiences in Paris, Germany and around the world along the way.

Here are some German team games to watch this weekend.

Friday night (August 2nd):

At 8:15 pm the German men’s hockey team faces England.

Then at 9 pm the German men’s basketball team took on France.

It is sure to be an exciting game, as both teams will be looking to maintain their first winning streaks. So both Germany and France have defeated Japan and Brazil.

Meanwhile, at 9:30 pm the German 3×3 women’s basketball team will also play against France.

Finally at 10pm there is women’s beach soccer with two German athletes against two US players.

Wednesday (August 3):

Saturday is a good day for beach and water sports with lots of sailing, swimming and beach volleyball games to see.

The day begins with two games in which the German team will take on its neighbors to the east. At 8 am the German Judo team faces Austria in an elimination match. Then at 9 am, in the men’s preliminary soccer match Germany is against Poland.

There are two medal matches in action on Saturday. First in the men’s sculls finals, at 9:42 am, with Oliver Zeidler (the reigning world champion in the event) going for gold. Then at 11 a.m. in the men’s eight finals in driving.

In the early afternoon German sailors hit the sea with the women’s dinghy races starting at 2:25 p.m., the mixed multihull races at 3:45 p.m., and the mixed dinghy race at 5:05 p.m.

At 7pm there are two German women’s team matches to choose from: the women’s team will face Canada in the quarter-finals, and the women’s team will face Norway.

Finally, at 9:28 p.m., German swimmer Isabel Gose had a shot at a medal in the 800m freestyle final. Gose had already claimed the Bronze Medal in the 1500 m event earlier in the Paris games.

Wednesday (August 4):

Sunday started with the 25m speed shooting qualification and then moved on to archery and sailing.

Then at 2 pm the German men’s football team will face Slovenia.

But perhaps the game you should watch on Sunday is the women’s basketball team taking on the USA, which starts at 5:15. This is the first time the German women’s basketball team has reached the Olympic Games, many will be watching to see what they do. In the two pre-tournament matches, Germany beat Nigeria but lost to the United States, which is the current Gold Metal favorite.

Finally the weekend of games ends for Germany with the men’s clash in the final at 8:30 pm.
