BOLZANO. “We have presented numerous amendments and motions to improve a project that as it stands leaves many perplexed”. This was underlined by the councillors of the Municipality of Bolzano Matthias Cologna and Thomas Brancaglion (Team K) regarding the underground parking project under Piazza Vittoria.
The technical-economic feasibility project will be discussed by the City Council next week. Team K has presented 26 proposals to modify the project. In addition to the merit – we read in a note – the method is also contested: “It cannot be just the technical-economic feasibility project that reaches the floor, but it is essential that the actual concession notice is also discussed, given that it contains the specifications of the work, which are the crux of the matter”, is the content of the first order of the day presented.
“The current project foresees a considerable increase in blue parking spaces that will bring more traffic to the area and the empty square without greenery will be a heat island that cannot be exploited in the hot months. Furthermore, the price of garages for residents at around €55,000 will be prohibitive for many, putting at risk the social equity of an infrastructure that should help all residents”, he explained City Councilor Matthias Cologna.
“We must ensure that public discussion will be possible also in the future, when the details of the construction and management of the parking lot will be discussed, which otherwise remain the prerogative of the Council alone together with the assignees. This is to ensure that a work of such costs (over 20 million Euro) and dimensions is actually useful, responding to the needs of the citizens and used also in the future, in 10, 20 or 30 years”, he added Councilor Thomas Brancaglion.
